On Monday, January 5, I had the honor of officially announcing my candidacy with the support of our amazing current treasurer, Jill Kneeland Mihelich.

Jill has been a wonderful mentor and worked to make sure I have the knowledge and experience for the role. And even better, she will stay on in 2027 as Chief Deputy Treasurer and continue to pass on her knowledge and make sure that there is a smooth transition and that the citizens of Ouray County are well taken care of.

I am 100% ready to take on this elected position and serve the county as Treasurer and Public Trustee. I can’t wait to see many familiar faces and meet all of our newer community members over the course of this campaign, and I look forward to earning each of your votes.

 

Ouray County is my home and my heart. I was raised in Ridgway- I learned to ride my bike on the patio of the Adobe Inn when my mom ran the restaurant in the 80s. I am a proud Ridgway Demon who graduated in the class of 2000.

I raised my daughter in Ridgway down the street from my parents and my childhood home. You might know me as Barbara’s daughter or maybe as Hailey’s mom. If you’ve been in the county for a while, I most likely served you at O’Briens, The Outlaw or Drakes back in the day. I worked in the bike tour industry for 5 years after service and hospitality, and then moved into non-profit work as the program director for the Sherbino and Weehawken Creative Arts. I helped found the Ridgway 1k and the Fete de la Musique before moving to the county as Chief Deputy Treasurer.

I have served on the Ridgway RAT Trails board and on the COPMOBA board as avid mountain biker. I now sit on the board of OAK (Ouray Advocates for Kids), which hosts the Ridgway 100 bike event. In its first year, all proceeds of the event went to fund Ridgway School’s Cimarron Athletic Field. I also volunteer for Mountain Air Music every June. In my spare time, I am a proud aerial performer with High Alpine Aerial.

I am invested in our community- and want to keep serving the citizens of the county as Treasurer and Public Trustee in the coming years. I would love your support for me in the coming election!
